ATA Animal Transportation Association

The Animal Transportation
Association
. . .

A non-profit association dedicated to the safe and humane transportation of animals - worldwide.

What is AATA?

Today, the transportation of pets and exotic animals is an everyday occurrence. The transport of livestock is an important part of the effort to help developing nations feed their people ... parks and zoos import a wide variety of animals from around the world ... cattle breeders and farmers rely on air, marine, and surface transportation to acquire livestock ... families who relocate often must transport their pets.

AATA provides an important opportunity for individuals, businesses, organizations and groups involved in any phase of animal transportation to become part of an international effort to find solutions to a variety of problems related to the transport of animals. At the same time, members are linked to information, resources, contacts and key developments in the field that can help them provide better services and conditions for animals in transit. AATA provides a means for making research needs known, encouraging research, and disseminating findings. The organization further encourages uniform and effective international regulations and humane handling of live animals. Every AATA member agrees to accept and support the
AATA Statement of Policies.

Organization
The Animal Air Transportation Association (AATA) was organized in 1976 in response to the concerns of industry leaders, government officials, and humane association representatives. In 1989, the name of AATA was changed to "The Animal Transportation Association" to emphasize that sea, air and land transport are of equal importance in the safe and humane transport of animals.

Members
AATA’s members comprise the entire spectrum of those concerned with the transportation of animals ... Airlines, Truckers & Shipping Firms; Government Agencies throughout the world; Universities & Research Organizations; Breeders; Importers/Exporters; Veterinarians; ... The list goes on and on.

AATA believes that
all animals, birds,
and other living creatures,
domestic and wild,
are a vital part
of our environment,
and are to be
conserved and
humanely treated.
