Join AATA in Dresden!Join the Animal Transportation Association (AATA) when it convenes in Dresden, Germany, May 18-21, 2008, to discuss and debate new ideas from one of the grand, old cities in Europe. The AATA goal for this conference is to continue building on its reputation to serve as a resource for those concerned with the humane handling and transportation of animals around the world. Today’s
environment sees too many decisions being made without the use of sound
science or practical experience. The AATA encourages experts in our
industry to work together to identify problems and introduce solutions
through the combined efforts of these experts.
Dresden will continue to build on that goal by offering presentations in the areas of Security and Air Safety, a look at the Cost of Animal Welfare, Understanding Animal Rights’ vs. Animal Extremists along with multi-modal topics covering transport by sea, land and air. We've listened to attendees from previous conferences who wanted (1) more free time for networking and the ability to (2) attend multiple workshops. Tuesday and Wednesday morning will feature a "Networking Coffee Hour" from 08:00-09:00 before the meetings start. Need a chance to meet with a colleague from the other side of the world or time to talk to a supplier about your needs? This would be the perfect time to do it! Workshops will be held Monday and Tuesday afternoon with three topics each day that are repeated twice. This means that attendees will be able to attend four of the six separate workshops which will be presented by experts in the areas of:
The Dresden meeting’s activities will include the opportunity to donate and bid on items from around the world at our Silent Auction and a trip to the Lansgestüt Moritzburg, a stallion station founded in the 1700’s by the Saxonian Kings. Attendees will be treated to a stallion show as well a guided tours through the historical buildings. Monday’s “Fun-Nite-Out” will be held at the Sophienkeller, in the historical centre of Dresden. Guests will step back into the 18th century world of King August the Strong, Countess Cosel, musicians, fortune tellers, magicians and strolling artists mixed with Saxon food specialties served by lovely maidens topped off with the famous funnel drinking, called “Dresdner Trichtertrinken”. An evening not to be missed! The 2008 conference will start Sunday evening (May 18) and conclude at 15:00 hrs on Wednesday (May21). Immediately following conclusion of the meeting, attendees will have the last chance to bid on Silent Auction items before the bidding is closed and auction items awarded. For those arriving on early flights or departing on late ones, a Hospitality Suite will be available all day from Saturday morning through Wednesday evening. Take advantage of the opportunity to relax without sitting in the hotel lobby or bar while you wait for your room to be readied or before you leave for your flight. It'll also be a great place for a small meeting with your friends or colleagues! All in all, this year’s conference will squeeze in more education, more information, more networking and best of all – more fun! So come join us in Dresden and let the “old world teach you some new techniques!”
